Your Scout's First Weeks

Your Scout's first few fun-filled weeks will be spent making friends and joining in with Troop activities. They are welcome to take part in all of the activities offered, including any camps, hikes and visits.

New Scouts will not require uniform until their investiture, they should simply be comfortably dressed in suitable activity clothes. Cub Scouts moving up should wear their Cub Scout uniform until their investiture.

New Scouts are allocated to a patrol during their first week so that they can settle in quickly with help from experienced Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders and have someone to help them find their feet.

Investiture will usually happen after approximately six weeks. Parents, Carers and family are encourage to attend and share this important event. During their investiture new Scouts make their promise and formally join the Scouting movement.

The uniform your Scout will need consists of a Scout shirt, activity trousers and belt. The Group will provide a necker, badges and a woggle. Some second-hand uniform is available, please ask the Troop leaders for more information.

The Troop leadership team are always happy to discuss any queries or issues you or your Scout may have both before they join the section and once they have started.
