Promise and Law

Cub Scouts started in 1916 when the younger brothers of Scouts wanted their own section in which to learn scouting skills. Today there are over 145,000 Cub Scouts in the UK learning new skills and having fun. Just like the older Scouts, Cub Scouts have a promise and law to keep. Here at 8th Alton our young members are encouraged to follow the promise and law and to take pride in doing so.

The Cub Scout Promise is:

I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to the Queen,
To help other people
And to keep the Cub Scout Law.

The Cub Scout Law is:

Cub Scouts always do their best,
Think of others before themseleves
And do a good turn everyday.

The Cub Scout Motto is:

Be Prepared

Our balanced programme of physical, intellectual, social and spiritual activities helps our Cub Scouts understand their promise and law and put them into practice everyday.
