About the 8th

The Group has three main sections, Beaver Scouts (6 to 8 year olds), Cub Scouts (8 to 10½) and Scouts (10½ to 14). For Explorers (14 to 18) please follow this link.

The Group is supported by the Rotherfield District Commissioner and his 3 Deputy District Commissioners for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Rotherfield district covers an area from Bentley near Alton all the way to Alresford and Cheriton and includes the Bordon area too.

Rotherfield District provide activities for our young members to meet up with fellow Scouts from all over the area and participate in larger social events. The older sections, Scouts and Explores, have opportunities to travel abroad to experience the thrills of international scouting through jamborees, expeditions and charitable work experience.

All of our leaders, just like grass roots leaders all over the country, are unpaid. They are willing volunteers who give up their time for the enjoyment of Scouting. The Scout Association supports our leaders by providing full training, which enables them to deliver excellent scouting activities and a balanced programme.

The method of achieving our balanced programme is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by adult leadership.
